Parapets

Early weathering or moisture build up on parapets.

Cause / Prevention / Tips

  • Seal parapets with fibre reinforced Waterproof or HydroFlex before application of topcoat to prevent early weathering.

Remedy

  • High pressure wash to remove loose and flaking paint.
  • Do not paint over surfaces with moisture content above 15% measured with an ultrasonic meter or over 5% with a pin-type meter.
  • Seal parapets with fibre reinforced Waterproof or HydroFlex in a criss-cross pattern. Allow 2-4 hours drying time between layers.
  • Recoat with a premium UV moisture resistant topcoat i.e. SoMat, PinAcle, Grit & Badgr.
