Solutions for common paint failures

Blisters

Blisters or bubbles in dry film.

Cause / Prevention / Tips

  • Do not paint over surfaces with moisture content above 15% measured with an ultrasonic meter or over 5% with a pin-type meter.

  • Avoid painting in moist conditions or in direct sunlight as this may result in solvent entrapment / heat blisters.

Remedy

  • Leave until it disappears as this might happen from time to time.
  • Remove blisters, loose and flaking paint and allow to dry until moisture content is below 15% measured with an ultrasonic meter or over 5% with a pin-type meter.
  • Sand to a uniform, smooth and stable surface.
  • Spot prime with PlasterPrime to stabilize surface and spot prime with topcoat colour before repainting.
  • Repaint entire surface from corner to corner.
