Solutions for common paint failures

Fading

Bright yellow, orange and red pigments tend to fade sooner compared to oxides. UV exposure attacks the pigment structure leading to a loss of colour or change in hue ( undertone.)

Cause / Prevention / Tips

  • Do not paint over surfaces with moisture content above 15% measured with an ultrasonic meter or over 5% with a pin-type meter.
  • Be cautious when selecting colours for exterior use. Insist on light fast pigments.
  • Choose premium UV resistant exterior coatings.

Remedy

  • Insist on light fast pigments when repainting.
  • Re coat previously painted stable surfaces according to product specification.
